Samsung and Toshiba unveil 640GB HDD for the laptops/netbooks

Imagine having a total of more than 640GB in your netbook! Imagine how much stuff you can carry at a time!

Samsung and Toshiba Electronics have churned out 640GB hard disk drives for the laptops/netbooks. Toshiba will be shipping these mammoth size HDDs to the OEMs by the end of this month.

With an areal density of 817.9 Mbit/mm2 (528.5 Gbit/in2), the new drive delivers performance improvements from Toshiba’s previous generation of 5,400RPM drives, and raises energy consumption efficiency by 28%.
