Fermi might come in January

If to believe the sources which claims that, next year in January, Fermi graphic card will be available for sale. Nvidia committed to ship Fermi in January. Fermi is the GPU which is going to stand in competition with the ATI’s Radeon 5000.

Though the launch was in early November but it was postponed to January which is due to the reason that A2 chip revision was not good enough for volume production so A3 is about to ship to partners soon. The sources also say that it wont be launch during CES 2010.

Gigabyte Booktop M1035 Dock brings GeForce GT220 Graphics to the netbook – What is the point?

The 13.3-inch Gigabyte Booktop M1305 can now have NVidia GeForce GT220 DDR3 1GB discrete graphic chipset solution. However, it is there in the dock and is not being offered as an addon for the netbook itself.

Specifications:

  • 13.3-inch display
  • 1366 x 768 resolution
  • a Core 2 Duo CULV processor
  • 500GB HDD
  • 4GB RAM
  • GS45 chipset + GMA 4500MHD graphics (via dock)
  • Wi-fi b/g
  • Ethernet
  • Windows 7 Home Premium

It comes with 3800mAh 6-cell battery.

Do we really need to have a graphic card in the dock? I’ve a rig at home for the times when I need graphic power.

Gateway LT3103u netbook with Athlon CPU reviewed – short battery life is the only complain

Gateway’s LT3103u netbook is one of its kind as it uses AMD Athlon 64 single-core processor @1.2GHz instead of the Intel Atom processors that are used in most of the netbooks. It comes with ATi Radeon graphic card and runs Windows Vista (Basic version). It has an 11.6-inch screen with 1366×768 resolution, 250 GB HDD and 2GB RAM. Chiclet style keys are comfortable to use and have good tactile feedback.

Here is a quote from its review:

“Most netbooks cannot run our PCMark Vantage test, which evaluates overall system performance; the LT3103u scored 1,096 on that test. On our 3DMark06 test, which measures 3D-gaming performance, the LT3103u scored 246 at its native resolution of 1,366×768, and it scored 258 at a resolution of 1,024×768. Both scores are more than double the netbook averages…The LT3103u scored higher on our Cinebench 10 test (a combined measure of graphics and CPU performance) than any netbook we’ve evaluated yet.”

There is only one complaint in this device: short battery life (2 hours 40 minutes)
