10-inch VIA-powered netbook costing $185 – made in China
Meet Phecda PHV102, a 10-inch netbook powered by VIA C7 processor. Here is a quick glance at its specs:
Chipset: VIA VX855 1.6GHz
RAM: 1GB DDR2
HDD: 160GB
Display: 10.2”, 1024 x 600 resolution
Battery: 3-cell 220mAh
Weight: 1.2kg
Ports: 3xUSB, VGA, LAN, card reader
Price: USD 185
The VIA C7 was used in the 1st generation netbooks like HP Mini 2133, whose performance was disappointing as it came with Vista. This machine runs XP and we know it very well that XP runs pretty decent on VIA C7 CPU.
But, we must confess that we despise that little right shift key.
HTC LEO – Is it a MID?
Over at our sister website, WindowsPhoneMix.com, we have published some tasty pictures of upcoming HTC’s flagship model, HTC LEO. Immediately after taking a quick glance at its specs, it was pretty clear that this phone is big. But, is it big as a MID? It is still very much pocketable and slim just like iPhone (which is also a powerful MID, which, unfortunately, cannot multi-task).

The HTC LEO is rumored to be the first Windows Mobile device to sport a capacitive display just like iPhone. However, HTC LEO has much higher screen resolution than iPhone: WVGA (800×480), which will allow you to see much more information at a particular time. Oh and the display size is 4.3-inches!
ASUS churns out ION Powered Eee Box EB1012 – NetTop capable of doing 1080p videos!
ASUS has launched their first ION powered nettop, the ASUS Eee Box EB1012, which makes it the most powerful nettop by ASUS till date. This Vista running little thing packs in a dual core Atom processor together with the powerful ION chipset.
Let’s take a glance at its specifications first, shall we?
- dual core Atom N330 processor
- 2GB RAM
- 250GB HDD
- WiFi (b/g/n) and LAN
- Windows Vista Home Premium
- Bluetooth (optional)
- 6 USB ports
- HDMI and VGA ports (!)
- eSATA port
This ION nettop, which is seemingly looking nice has some distinguishing features that make it better than the Acer Aspire Revo as it has an Wi-Fi antenna for better signal reception and dual core Atom N330 processor.
The RAM can also be upgraded to 4GB, which is great if you plan to install Windows 7 in future on this little nettop. It is available in two colors, Black and White.
Oh and in case, if you have forgotten, this is an ION-powered nettop and it will be able to do 1080p video easily!
Suzuki Neutron 701 MNI touchscreen netbook
When you hear the word “Suzuki”, you associate it immediately with cars and bikes, but you would never associate them with netbooks, until now. Suzuki has come with a netbook called Neutron 701 MNI which is a 7.1-inch netbook with touchscreen display.
The display can swivel just like tablet PCs. Here is a glance at its specifications:
- Atom Z520 processor
- upto 4GB RAM (!)
- 3 USB ports
- VGA port
- Expresscard slot (!)
- WiFi (b/g) and BT
- 1.3MP camera
- 56k modem (!)
- 5-in-one card reader
It has a WSVGA display (1024×600) and weighs just 2 pounds. However, there are a few things that make this netbook different from the rest of the crowd. First is the support for upto 4GB RAM (most netbooks support upto 2GB RAM). Secondly, it has expresscard slot which is only present in some HP and Lenovo netbooks. Third is the inclusion of the 56k modem, which we do not think anyone uses these days.
The only minus we see is the use of Z520 processor which is not the fastest Intel Atom processor by any means. Note that this is the same processor which is being used in the Acer Aspire 751H (reviewed here), which is slower than the Atom N270/N280.
