Foxconn netbooks are based on Pine Trail platform

According to Digitimes, Foxconn netbooks; the SZ901P, NS20 and NS24 that we mentioned few days are based on Pine Trail.

All the aforementioned netbooks run FoxOS (propitiatory Linux OS), but since they are bound to be modified as per OEM’s needs, we are expecting it to be bundled with Windows OS or may be both of them – Windows and Fox

Foxconn to produce Apple tablet

Foxconn to produce Apple tablet

Foxconn is in a contract to produce Apple’s long rumored tablet and it would be launched sometime in Q1 2010

It will have a 10.6-inch screen and more focus will be on e-book functionality rather than music. It will have really good battery life as it is supposed to be an eBook reader first and a computer second. It will have simple to use interface and internet connectivity too.

Nothing is known about exact specs of Apple’s ebook reader tablet.

ASUS to go for DTS surround sound in 2010

ASUS has opted to go for DTS surround sound for their notebooks and netbooks in the next year, that is 2010, says ASUS CEO Jon Kirchner.

Other than ASUS, is already in partnership with other big companies such as Acer, Foxconn and Shuttle. It has also signed deals with VIA Technologies, Intel and Realtek.

Apple and Sony to shift notebook orders from Foxconn to Quanta

According to various online sources, both Apple and Sony are shifting the OEM orders from Foxconn to Quanta computing. In the meanwhile, Foxconn does not have anything to worry about as Dell, Asus and HP have given huge orders to Foxconn.

Quanta is another huge PC maker, which has also made a lot of Windows Mobile phones for O2 Asia in the past. These devices include popular Windows Mobile phones like O2 Atom Exec and O2 Atom. However, now they are making only netbooks and notebooks for various companies

SONY Coming To The NetBook Arena

SONY is already in talks with Foxconn to produce low cost netbooks. This means that the SONY won’t be producing the entire Netbook. Many of it’s parts will be manufactured by the third parties.
