Kohjinsha Japan churns out the Kohjinsha EX series
Kohjinsha Japan has released an 11.6-inch tablet netbook, the Kohjinsha EX series. Following their tradition of incorporating optical drives in their UMPCs, this Kohjinsha too is packed with rare features not found in netbooks/UMPCs: an optical drive and ExpressCard slot. It even features an 3.0MP Webcam with auto-focus. There is also an additional 0.3MP webcam on the exterior part coupled with a fingerprint reader.
Kohjinsha claims that the EX would give you around 4.5 hours of runtime. Specifications:
- Intel Atom N270 processor @1.6GHz
- 11.6-inch display
- 1366 x 768 resolution
- 160GB HDD , 1GB RAM
- Intel 945GSE chipset
- Windows XP Home
- 2 USB ports
- Wi-Fi (b/g/n)
It is listed for 69, 800 yen ($740) and will be available at the end of this month. The only downside that we see is its weight: 1.7kg. So, although it is pretty much packed with features, it is not the lightest ultra-portable to carry around.
Fingerprint MOD for Dell Mini 9 netbook
Although Dell Mini 9 is not latest and greatest anymore, but that did not stop the modders from putting in a fingerprint reader into it. rich2871, a member at Dell mini forum has come up with a mod where he has put in a fingerprint reader into the small body of Mini 9, which he can converted into a hackintosh.
However, keep in mind that you will have to do some cutting to make space for the fingerprint reader and after doing that your warranty will be voided.
