Adobe released BETA of newer version of flash that is supposed to provide GPU acceleration. However, since it does not supports GMA 950 which is used in most of the netbooks, it is going to make little to no difference at all in the flash performance in the netbooks.Right now, it only supports GMA 4500 and Nvidia ION. So, users ION powered netbooks and nettops should update to the this version. The Chipset US15W and the graphic chip accompanying it, GMA 500 perform pretty nicely under Windows 7 and Windows Vista, but they did not perform well under Linux (until now). If you are a guy that updates the repositories frequently in Ubuntu (v9.04), you will see a new package by the name of "poulsbo-driver-3D package". Install it and restart your netbook. This will improve 2-D and 3-D capabilities of your netbook.In case, for some reason, you are still unable to find it, I recommend you to visit the official repositories webpage and find "libdrm-poulsbo - 2.3.0-0ubuntu1~904um1" package. From there, download the file "libdrm-poulsbo1_2.3.0-0ubuntu1~904um1_i386.deb" and run it on your Ubuntu-powered netbook.Make sure you restart the computer to see the effects!

LiveAndroid is a special project where the developers are working diligently on porting Android OS to run on all x86 platform. Version 0.2 of LiveAndroid was released a few days back and it can be run on a netbook/notebook without actual installation. So, all you have to do is burn the ISO to a CD and you are done.

Want to give Google Android a try, but don't feel like buying a T-Mobile G1? LiveAndroid lets you download a LiveCD disc image of the Google Android operating system. Just burn the image to a disc, stick it in a CD-ROM drive, and reboot your computer and you can check out Android without installing it or affecting any files on your PC.

If you have a peculiar affection for Android OS, you can give it a go. Although I still have not thought of buying an Android netbook in future, but by using Live Android, one can try out some of the features of Android OS without buying myself one.

Although the Canonical did released a netbook version of Ubuntu 9.04, the EEEbuntu uses a custom kernel which makes all the hot keys and shortcut buttons work out-of-the-box!Like earlier versions of EEEbuntu, it also comes with 3 versions:

Standard version: All the standard stuff
NBR: Standard version + netbook remix launcher
Base: This comes with only basic applications like web browser installed.

Canonical, the commercial sponsor of Ubuntu, has announced the availability of Ubuntu 9.04 Netbook Remix. The newer version of ubuntu is going to be made available this coming Thursday. The newer version sports faster boot times. It also comes with an interface which lets them launch their favorite application easily and quickly. Other improvements include better power management and easier switching between networks.Although, I really enjoyed EEEbuntu, which is actually an Ubuntu 8.10 with EEE drivers, but its long bootup time was the main turn off. That is the reason, I kept going back to Windows XP. I'm really looking forward to download the Ubuntu 9.04 Netbook Remix version. I hope the improvements are enough to make me use the Ubuntu full time.
