Two-ION Powered Nettops released by Okoro Media – OMS-Q100 and OMS-Q200

Okoro Media Systems has announced two ION-powered nettops. One of them is the OMS-Q200 that comes with a dual-core Intel Atom 330 processor. It can configured with up to 4GB RAM, 320GB HDD and Nvidia’s ION graphic chipset. It also has digital TV tuner and a dedicated hardware to record digital TV.

Second one is the OMS-Q100 packed in a more tiny package. It has Intel Core 2 Duo processor coupled with GMA X4500HMD graphic chipset. It also has a TV tuner, but does not have any recording capabilities.

The Quantum minis are powerful machines that run cool and quiet. Each is built with quiet active cooling technology that allows the unit to barely audible in a home theater environment. The OMS-QX100 is based on low powered Intel moble technology while the QX200 is based on Nvidia ION processing technology. Both units have HDMI 1.3 outputs, Blu-ray/DVD drives and have been designed to deliver uncompromising performance while consuming less than 50 Watts of power. Customers can also purchase special versions that are available in unlimited color combinations.

You will shun yourself when you will come to know that the starting price of these nettops is $1295. Certainly not the cheapest way to go ION-powered!

Bandai’s new offering – Rilakkuma Netbook

Bandai’s new offering – Rilakkuma Netbook

Now, the netbook manufactures seem to be not only targeting the business individuals, but also the kids. Bandai has come with a netbook that is meant for children, the Rilakkuma netbook. The Rilakkuma netbook comes with a funky cartoon picture on the lid of the netbook. The Rilakkuma netbook will cost you $865 in Japan. If you ask us, it is a pretty expensive netbook for kids as even most of the modern netbooks cost less than half of it! Here are its specs:

  • 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor
  • 8.9-inch display with 1024×600 resolution
  • WiFi
  • 1GB RAM
  • 160GB HDD
  • Digital TV tuner

How can they charge so much just for a sticker? Call it fortunate or unfortunate, but it will retail only in Japan. Rilakkuma will be making just 500 of these netbooks. So, hurry up if you are interested

Viliv S7 UMPC gets final pricing and specifications

Viliv S7 UMPC gets final pricing and specifications

Viliv has announced final specs and pricing for its upcoming S7 UMPC. Unlike full slate-type UMPCs, it is equipped with a full QWERTY keyboard, and promises a runtime of 9.5hrs on a single charge. Each S7 model uses an Intel Atom Z520 processor at a clock speed of 1.33 GHz, 1GB of RAM, 60GB HDD, and will feature a DMB digital TV tuner in the final models. If you are person that loves SSDs, you can even get one with 32GB SSD.

The Vilic S7 is a very compact UMPC as it does not have a touchpad and uses touchscreen for selecting objects on the screen. I personally would not like to solely depend on the touchscreen for selecting objects on the screen.
