If you are getting yourself a Dell Latitude, make sure to give a look at the Latitude E5500. Reason? Because just by adding $49 more, you will be able to get a Dell Mini 9. The Mini 9 that you will be getting comes with 8GB SSD, Windows XP, Bluetooth, WiFi etc. The cheapest configuration is about $899. Come on, you are getting two laptops under a grand!

Dell Vostro A90 8.9-inch netbook for just $184 – Runs Ubuntu
The compact Dell Vostro A90 8.9-inch is available for just for $184 (for limited time only). It comes with an Atom N270 processor, 1GB RAM, an 8GB SSD which can be upgraded to 16 GB for $50 , 8.9-inch, 1024×600 LCD display, Wi-fi b/g and 4-cell battery.
It runs Ubuntu 8.04, which can easily be upgraded to the latest Ubuntu 9.10 version, which is as usual free.

MOD: Dell Mini 9 with Capacitive Touch Screen
Once again, some talented guy (gowtham) at mydellmini forum was able to mod his Dell mini 9 with a capacitive touch screen. Last time, when we mentioned the MOD, the hack was done with a resistive touch screen. The capacitive screen, which he got for $50 is working very fine under Ubuntu. The dude kept the hinges intact as he wanted to use them as stand.
So far, he has been working diligently in order to get his screen working under the Moblin OS.
We have seen people putting accelerometers and resistive touch screens into the small frame of Dell Mini 9 and now we have capacitive screen MOD which shows that it can give the upcoming iTablet very tough competition, especially when you takes its overall price into consideration: <$300. Can you beat that Apple? Of course, YOU (Apple) Cannot!
