Dell Mini 10v now being offered with Moblin Linux OS – World’s First Moblin Netbook
At IDF 2009, Dell announced to offer the Dell Mini 10v with Moblin Linux OS (they are instead using the name “Ubuntu Moblin Remix Developer Edition”). This makes it the first Moblin netbook and will start selling it on 24 September 2009 at the price tag of $299.
As its name suggests, the Dell Mini 10v is targeted towards the developers and not for the average consumer, which is weird as Moblin OS is one fo the most polished Linux OS ever made for netbooks. On a weird note, the bluetooth does not work on the Dell Mini 10V even though it has BT onboard.
For those who do not know about Moblin, it is a project by Intel to bring optimized Linux OS to the mobile devices.

Dell Mini 10 absent from Dell UK’s Website
Is this a mirage or Dell is really done with its Dell Mini 10? Some folks over at the MyDellMini forum found that the Dell Mini 10 model is absent from Dell UK. A couple of months back, Dell discontinued the Mini 9 netbook which was then replaced by the Mini 10 (although it is still on sale in UK).
The Dell Mini 10V is still on sale though.

Dell phases out Mini 9 netbook
Dell has confirmed that it won’t be making Mini 9 netbooks anymore. The Dell Mini 9 was launched in September 2008 at a price tag of $349. Since then, the Dell has released several (bigger) netbooks as the market was responding better to the bigger netbooks as they allowed the manufactures to equip them with bigger keyboards and bigger screens.
Dell is now urging the consumers to go for the Dell Mini 10V instead which is currently retailing at $299 and comes with a bigger 10-inch screen.

Dell Mini 10v netbook at $299 – SSD options added
The Dell Mini 10v has made its first appearance in Dell’s May month catalog. The basic model of 10v is just going to cost you $300, which is a pretty decent price for what you get. Its specifications include:
- Intel Atom N270 processor
- 120 GB HDD
- 1 GB RAM
- 1.3MP webcam
- Windows XP Home edition with SP3
- price tag of $299, a $100 less than the base Mini 10
The netbook is anticipated to be available by Mid-May. Also spotted on Dell’s retail site are new 32GB or 64GB SSD options for the current Mini 10 for an extra $75 or $125, respectively.
