Dell Mini 10v clone – packs bigger display
Here is a Chinese clone of Dell Mini 10V (1012) netbook that comes with a good ‘ol Atom N270 processor. But, it does packs a HD display (1366×768) and that mean it does have something to ponder on. The netbook is bigger than the original and reason of boasting a bigger frame is its 11.6-inch display.
Other specs include Intel 945GSE chipset, 1GB DDR2 RAM, 160GB HDD, GMA 950 graphics and 1.3MP webcam. The netbook features a 3-cell 2400mAh battery, 3G SIM slot, LAN, BT and 2x USB ports. It also offers a less stressful keyboard.
Dell Mini 10V to get some serious HD video capability
If you are out to buy a Dell Mini 10V (Dell Mini 1012), make sure to tick the box which says “Broadcom Crystal HD accelerator” because that makes playing 1080p videos a Duck Soup.
Rumor has it that Mini 10V with Broadcom chip will start from $425 upwards. Note that this offer is not online as we write this news post.
Dell Mini 1020 (N450-based version) now official
Yesterday, we leaked out the Mini 1020’s specifications before it got official. It has has now made official and prices start at modest $299 for the one that comes with 3-cell battery and Windows XP. There are precisely two new models – one is the just mentioned and another is the one that runs Windows 7 Starter and has 6-cell battery.
Also, the new design allows the 6-cell battery to sit flush with the unit. So, no more protrusion. Other features that new Dell Mini sports are – 92% full-size keyboard and hinge-forward design. You can even turn it into a monster by including Broadcom’s Crystal HD media accelerator.

Dell Mini 10V Netbook ‘perfect’ for Twitter and Facebook: But How?
Somebody at Dell is (trying to) play with the innocent people. On the Dell Mini 10v’s page, Dell has a model which, according to Dell is ‘perfect for twittering’.
How can a netbook be perfect for twittering if it cannot boot up instantaneously? Netbooks, although are very portable devices, but they cannot replace mobile phones which are actually the perfect devices for this purpose. Dell Mini 10V is a fine netbook, but not perfect for social networking for sure.

Dell providing BETA of Chromium OS for Dell Mini 10v
Dell has made available BETA version of the Chrome OS for one of its netbooks and the lucky one is Dell Mini 10V. The image can downloaded from this link and you will need a linux machine for writing this to the flash USB drive. All you have to do is write the following in the terminal
dd if=ChromiumOS_Mini10v_Nov25.img of=/dev/sdb
Note: you will a minimum of 8GB flash drive for installing chrome on the flash drive.
Dell adopts Greener approach – Mini 10 and Mini 10v netbooks with Bamboo Packaging
Dell is going eco-friendly with their netbooks as they are now offering a greener packaging for the Dell Mini 10 and Dell Mini 10v netbooks. The Bamboo, famous for its incredible strength will protect and hold the netbook as-nicely-as its conventional packaging. Also, the outer box is recyclable.
