Confirmed: Dell Mini 11z with new TouchPad
Folks in UK are getting updated Dell Inspiron 11z from Dell UK outlet which have new updated touchpad.
“The touchpad is similar to that on the Inspiron 1545 where it is an indentation on the palmrest rather than being a separate pad. It is quite smooth to the touch compared with the older touchpad. The buttons are OK but feel a little cheap but it is very easy now to do proper right clicks and to click and drag. You lose some of the vertical space for moving around so it is worth increasing the speed of the pointer so you can move more easily around the screen in one go. It continues to support multi-touch like the previous touchpad.”

Dell Inspiron Mini 11z and Windows XP – installation Guide
Got a Dell Inspiron 11z and want to install XP on this beauty? Follow these steps.
1) use the vista 32bit drivers from the dell website for your regular Ethernet, audio, chipset, and touchpad. it’s probably a good idea to just install just the NIC driver and immediately update to SP2 to avoid any problems, & then install the rest. also grab the capslock application and wireless on/off toggle utility because they are actually useful.
2) the video driver "auto-detect" on the intel website was sort of flaky for me, so i will try and find a direct link to the appropriate graphics driver:

Dell Inspiron 11z review
Netbook India has posted a huge review of the Dell 11z. This is not a normal netbook by any means. Although it does not costs a bomb like the SONY VAIO X, but offers excellent value for money. The entry model that costs $399 comes with a Intel Celeron 743 CPU and runs Windows Vista Basic and comes with 160GB HDD.
Other models that costs $100 and $150 more, offer more hard disk space and run Windows 7 OS. To any model, if you add $75, you get much more powerful Intel CULV SU4100 processor that has 2MB cache.
You can increase the RAM to a total of 4GB RAM ($120 more).

The Dell Inspiron 11z, which got official just few days back is now finally available on Dell’s France website. Dell has launched 3 different type of versions starting from €379.
- First version uses CULV 743 celeron procession and Intel GS45 chipset. It comes with 2GB RAM and 160GB HDD. It runs Vista Basic and costs 379 Euros
- Second version runs CULV SU4100 and runs Vista Premium. It has 250GB HDD and costs 470 Euros
- Third version, the most powerful (and expensive) of all versions, comes with 4GB RAM and 320GB HDD. It costs 599 Euros

Dell Insprion 11z gets a price jump from $399 to $449
When Dell Inspiron 11z was launched, it was tagged with price of $399 at the Dell’s website, but now the Dell has increased its price up by $50 and now it’s for $449.
No distinction can be made between the specs of model that costed $399 and the current (and expensive) one. But the Dell official claims that the reason for such jump in price is due to fact that the screen is now LED backlit. The chances are there that the prices might come back to $399 if a lower quality screen becomes available.

Dell Inspiron 11z CULV netbook gets official – Feature packed netbook!
Dell has finally unveiled its much-awaited 11-inch netbook/mini- laptop, the Inspiron 11z. Unlike most of the netbooks that come with Intel Atom processors, this new netbook from Dell uses an Intel Celeron processor that runs at 1.2GHz clock speed which is noticeably faster than any Intel Atom processor released till date. That is the reason why Dell is selling them with Windows Vista Home Premium instead of good ‘ol Windows XP which almost all the current netbooks carry.
Another interesting thing to note is the fact that there are no physical left and right click buttons. How difficult or easy it makes the usage cannot be commented upon right now, but we guess that Dell must have made some enhancements to the touchpad to make it usable for the normal consumer.
It even packs in an HDMI port, 2GB RAM and 250GB hard disk, all of which are not common on netbooks due to the restrictions by Microsoft according to which a manufacture cannot use Windows XP on a netbook that has more than 160GB HDD or/and 1GB RAM.
