Viewsonic VNB131, VNB132 and VNB141 CULVs

Viewsonic is launching three new CULV notebooks  – VNB131 ($949 MSRP), VNB132 ($649 MSRP), and VNB141 ($829 MSRP). The VNB131 has a 13.3-inch screen and uses SU7300 CULV Core 2 Duo processor. Packing a 320GB HDD, 2GB RAM and removable DVD RW drive, it has a chassis made from Aluminum alloy. Runs Windows 7 Home Premium

Next we have the VNB132 notebook that is powered by the SU2300 CULV Core 2 Duo processor. Comes with WiFi b/g/n, HDMI, VGA connections and a 6-cell battery.

CULV or Intel Atom processor: A Comparison

CULV or Intel Atom processor: A Comparison

From the past couple months, we have seen an incredible rise in the usage of the CULV processors in the notebooks, especially the ultra-slim ones from MSI.(MSI X400, MSI X610, HP DM3, Wind U120 and so on)

CULV processors are more powerful than the Intel Atom processors even at lower clock frequencies. However, there is one thing that has stopped most of the manufactures NOT to use it in their netbooks: PRICE.

frustrated

I feel acutely that once Intel and AMD, reduce the prices of the CULV processors a bit, most of the netbook manufactures will opt for equipping their netbooks with these more powerful CULV processors instead of Intel Atom CPUs.

Acer to offer Celeron-based CULV processors for its ultra-thin notebooks

Acer is very soon going to bring few changes in the type of processors being used in its Timeline thin-and-light series. For the low end models, Acer will offer Celeron-based Timelines. Until now we have encountered the 5410T and 3410T, 15.6” and 13.3”  models based on the Celeron 723 at 1.3GHz. The 13-incher is priced [...]

Intel to launch SU2300, Celeron 743 processors in September

Intel to launch SU2300, Celeron 743 processors in September

Intel is all set to introduce two CULV processors in late September. This includes SU2700 and the Celeron 743.

The Celeron 743 is supposed to be 100MHz faster than the current 723 model and will hit the market at the same price as the old Celeron 723, which used to cost around $107.

Whereas the SU2700 is a bit more promising and will cost $134. That’s half of what an SU3500 costs right now. The SU2700 CPU runs at 1.2GHz and features just 1MB of cache. But that does not make it a bad buy at all! It’s still a much better choice than the Celeron.

Intel is very sure that the 743 is 1.7 to 2.1 times faster than an Atom N270 in audio transcoding and image processing. The new processor are expected to make their debut in China in early September and globally later that month
