Packard Bell DOT M/U FT-020: Rebranded Acer Timeline 1810T/1410

Packard Bell DOT M/U FT-020: Rebranded Acer Timeline 1810T/1410

Packard Bell has launched a CULV netbook, DOT M/U FT-020 that has a 11.6-inch screen and looks exactly like the Acer Aspire 1810T. Even the innards of this netbook are exactly like 1810T that is basically an Acer Aspire 751H with a more powerful processor and more RAM.

As mentioned earlier, it has an 11.6-inch screen with a resolution of 1366×768. It uses SU3500 CULV processor that is more powerful than the Intel Atom processor. The SU3500 runs at 1.4GHz clock speed and has 3MB of cache memory. However, it is not as energy efficient as it gobbles up more power than Intel Atom N280 (2.5watts versus 5.5watts). Its GMA 4500 is also much more powerful and capable than Intel GMA 950 that comes in the most netbooks.

Just like the Timeline 1810T, it has 2GB RAM, 250GB HDD, WiFi (Draft-N) and BT. It has HDMI port, 2 USB ports, 1 LAN port, earphone and microphone jacks and SDHC card reader.

Its 5600mAh battery promises 7 hours of runtime which not shabby at all for such powerful netbook

Samsung X120

Samsung’s two new CULV notebooks planned and will be launched soon

Samsung is buckling up to launch a couple of new CULV-based notebooks, the 11.6-inch X120 and the 14-inch X420. Currently, 13-inch CULV notebooks are in huge demand right now, but Samsung seems to be satisfied with their bigger CULV notebooks.

Going back to the X420, which has an 14-inch display backed by a SU2700 CPU, 3GB of RAM and 250GB of hard disk storage. The X420 will cost you over €700, and if you look at the specs mentioned above, you would surely hesitate to go for this kind of deal. The only thing that sparks a little excitement in us about it is its weight, which is just 1.7kg and its long battery life of upto 9 hours.

Whereas X120 will be powered by a Celeron 723 processor and for this you will have to pay €550. That is more than what one would pay for Acer 1810T notebooks.

BenQ launches Joybook S35 and Joybook S43 – based on CULV platform

BenQ has launched two ultra-thin CULV notebooks, Joybook S35 and Joybook S43. The Joybook S35 has a 13.3-inch screen and weighs 1.6kg.

BenQ will be offering it with either an 8-cell battery (11 hours runtime) or with a smaller 4-cell battery (5.5 hours runtime).

The Joybook S35 packs some more muscle as you have the option to get one with Radeon HD 4330 discrete graphics. The S35 packs a bigger screen too: 14-inch. But, both the models sport same screen resolution and even the choice of processors is same. You can get one with Celeron 723/743 or with Core 2 Solo SU3500 processor.

Other standard features include HDMI, WiFi (draft-N) and BT 2.1+ EDR. One can also opt-in for a huge 500GB HDD.

Both of the aforementioned models are already being shipped in Asia, but it is not known if they will make their way to EU or US.
