Nvidia ION 2 to be released after CES 2010 to the OEMs and Manufactures

We have posted plethora of times about the upcoming NVIDIA’s ION 2 chipset. According to the latest news bits, the Nvidia has confirmed that ION 2 will NOT be launched during CES 2010 event that will be coming in the month of January.

That said, it will showcased by many OEMs, but its official announcement will take place after CES. It will be launched in Q1 2010. So, what is the reason that Nvidia has pushed the announcement back? – OEMs such as ASUS, MSI, HP and Lenovo who are already pretty satisfied with the Pinetrail M and other pineview based CPUs.

Arrandale HD graphics able to overclock three times faster

Intel’s Arrandale 32nm CPU along with 45nm graphics core is surely a technology to boast about. Known as HD graphics turbo boost technology which form the part of Intel’s HD graphics integrated on these CPUs will be able to overclock graphics chip, it’s working are quite similar to Turbo boost of the CPU. Nehalem architecture has a basic CPU clock speed. As some CPU overclock one or more cores, 2.26Ghz which is only possible on the core i5 640UM.

Arrandale HD graphics turbo boosts from the default 166MHz to 500MHz whenever required.

CULV or Intel Atom processor: A Comparison

CULV or Intel Atom processor: A Comparison

From the past couple months, we have seen an incredible rise in the usage of the CULV processors in the notebooks, especially the ultra-slim ones from MSI.(MSI X400, MSI X610, HP DM3, Wind U120 and so on)

CULV processors are more powerful than the Intel Atom processors even at lower clock frequencies. However, there is one thing that has stopped most of the manufactures NOT to use it in their netbooks: PRICE.

frustrated

I feel acutely that once Intel and AMD, reduce the prices of the CULV processors a bit, most of the netbook manufactures will opt for equipping their netbooks with these more powerful CULV processors instead of Intel Atom CPUs.

Z550 Atom processor reaches 2.0GHz

Z550 Atom processor reaches 2.0GHz

Information about two Z-series Atom processors was leaked today. One is 1.2GHz processor (Z515), which is extremely power-frugal and consumes just 1.4W when running at full power and as-little-as 0.65W when scaled back to 800MHz clock speed. However, with all these fancy low number, you will have to bear with slower 400MHz system bus and a 100MHz slower graphics core.

The second Atom is the first one to achive 2GHz clock speed (Z550). Interestingly, it still consumes 2.4W of power which is same as consumed by the 1.86GHz version.

The Z515 will be targeted at the low-powered MIDs and low-cost netbooks. Onviously, the Z550 will be targeted towards hi-end netbooks.
