Meet Zhongchi Zc-A80 – Rubberized netbook – made in China

The Zhongchi ZC-A80 netbook, as it name suggest comes from China. It is a typical 11-inch netbook, but has a rubberized case which will prevent it from slipping from your hands and can actually take few (light) bumps too.

What are its specifications? It comes with an 11.1-inch screen with 1366X768 pixel display, an Intel Atom N270 CPU with 1GB of RAM and 160GB HDD and packs 3 USB 2.0 ports. Monotonous specs, we already know.

Do not expect it make its way outside China as it is a local product.

Looks like BenQ is interested in targeting only the Asian markets. Last month, they launched it in Thailand and China and now, India

It is possible to get one with build-in 3G modem. It is very light (weighs approx 1kg).

The weakest part of this netbook in term of specs is its small battery, whose capacity is just 1700mAh. It will barely be able to provide you with 2 hours of battery life. Expect the price to be around $441 USD

If the netbook clones were not enough, here come the clones of nettops! Meet the Julong Eee Box which is an, um, an EEE box clone. Unlike most of the recent nettops, this does NOT have an ION or ION LE chipset. It uses the bog standard Intel Atom N270 processor, 160GB HDD, 1GB RAM, 3 USB ports and VGA port. No HDMI.

Available at price of $150 USD in China, we cannot complain much.

Lenovo to enter the Smartbook market! – Runs Google Chrome OS

According to Commercial Times (China), Lenovo is planning to launch a smartbook by the end of September 2009. The smartbook is rumored to use the Nvidia’s Tegra chipset and will use Google’s Chrome OS.

It is nice to see Lenovo using Chrome OS for their smartbook and not Google’s mobile phone OS, Android. After all, it does not makes any sense of using a mobile phone OS on a netbook.
