Archos, a popular manufacture which recently unveiled Archos 5 Internet MID has rolled out another exciting products which has been in the new from past couple of months: the Archos 9.So what is something that makes this slate tablet different from rest of the Archos offerings: this baby runs Windows 7! It is powered by very power frugal (and sometimes slow), Atom Z515 running at clock speed of 1.2GHz.Here is a quick glance at its specs:

However, it will hit the shelves on the release date of Windows 7, which is October 22.The only thing not to like about this tablet is its lack of 3G module and SD card.

Archos’ 10.2” Archos 10s netbook is soon going to hit the market in in mid-October and will be priced for $399. This model was made public back in June this year. Oddly, even though October is the month when the Windows 7 will be made official, they are still launching it with Windows XP.The Archos 10s, although being seen as successor to Archos 10, it does not bring anything spectacular over the latter other than being slimmer and lighter. The specs have widely remained unchanged.

One thing I am not able to make out is the fact that some of the manufactures are still shipping devices with the old Intel Atom processor (N270). This Archos has a big 9-inch display and a touch screen display. This is first tablet by Archos that runs Windows OS (Windows 7 Starter to be specific). It has no multi-touch and is bulky at 1.2 pounds. It can either be used with stylus or your fingers. It has Intel Atom Z515 processor, 1GB RAM and 60GB HDD. The Archos 9 comes with a removable 4-cell battery which should give you up to 3 hours of runtime.At $500, we think it is aptly priced as:

there are not many similar devices around
Archos is a good brand
it runs Windows 7 (although we expected something better than the Starter edition)

Archos is all set to release an Android tablet on September 15, 2009. AppsLib, which is an application store for Android states that Archos will be launching an Android tablet with an 5-inch screen with WVGA resolution (800x480).The tablet will be able to play back 720p videos too without any problems. It also has HDMI out so that you can enjoy all those hi-res videos in all their glory. However, we think it would have been better if they had equipped it with a bigger and higher resolution display as it 5-inch screen with WVGA resolution does not give any huge advantage over the current slew of Android phones.

Archos 9 comes with a very responsive RESISTIVE screen!

Archos 9 is a great tablet, which comes with an 9-inch screen and weighs mere 630gm. It comes with Intel Atom Z515 processor that runs at 1.2GHz, 80GB HDD and has built-in Bluetooth. It will cost £450 for an 80GB model and £500 for a 160GB.Cnet was able to get hold of this upcoming Archos 9 which will make its debut at the end of this year. Folks at Archos have done a great job in making the screen of this tablet extremely sensitive even though it is a resistive screen.Capacitive screen is the same screen that is being used in the iPhone and Google Android phones. It is very sensitive to use, but it is not usable with nails or if you are wearing gloves. Archos wants its new netbook to be a little different from rest of the netbooks by not only bundling it with different OS, but also equipping it with 2GB of RAM, and a 500GB HDD! That is a lot of storage to store your media.All Archos 10 models come with an 10.2 inch 1024 x 600 pixel display, a 1.3MP camera, 802.11b/g WiFI, 3 USB ports, and 6 cell battery. It weighs 2.9 pounds and measures 10.2" x 7.4" x 1.1". Best point to note is that Archos has kept the price same for both Windows and Linux models: 375 eurosMost of the traditional netbooks run Windows XP; come with 160GB HDD and 1GB RAM and it is definitely a good strategy by Archos to bundle their netbook with 500GB HDD and 2GB RAM.

Well, they want to call it MiniPC, but we would still call it a netbook. It is similar to Archos 10 in terms of specifications, but in a thinner and lighter chassis.It comes with a usual 10.2-inch 1024 x 600 screen, 160GB HDD, 1GB RAM and weighs 1.06kg (with 3-cell). The Archos 10 is now finally available for order for $399. There is nothing special about the netbook in terms of specifications. Infact, it carries the specs which were there in the netbook models around an year ago just when the Atom-powered netbooks had just landed. At CES 2009, they did a quite unveiling of Archos 10. Perhaps, they themselves know that there is nothing ground-breaking about this netbook.Specifications:
