Great new for the Archos 5 Internet Tablet users out there. Archos has released a new firmware and there are heap of improvements compared to the previous versions. The most notable is the OpenGL 3D hardware acceleration which means developers will now be able to make games with amazing graphics.
Mini-HDMI Dock now available for Archos 5 Internet Tablet
The much anticipated accessory for the Archos 5 Internet Tablet is now available for sale on the Archos store for 60 dollars. Compared to the normal HDMI dock, this one accepts both HDMI and composite cables.
Archos adds OpenGL to Archos 5 Internet Tablet
Archos has released an update for the Archos 5 Tablet that adds support for the OpenGL, which means that now the Archos 5 can play 3D games and applications. The new firmware can be downloaded from the Archos support site. Certainly, this update is more exiting than running an old horse like Windows CE 3.1 on this Android MID.

FYI, the 32GB version retails at 299 Euros – yes, 100 Euros less than the 64GB one. It all comes down to how much you are planning to store on this baby.

AppsLib updated for Archos 5 Internet Tablet
A new version of the AppsLib is available for the Archos 5 Internet Tablet. This new version gives you smoother navigation as well as using less battery power.
Upgrade instructions:
- Click on the AppsLib icon on the right to download the more recent Appslib application (the file is named AppsLib)
- Save the Appslib.apk file onto your PC’s hard drive.
- If the file extension is NOT "apk", but is "zip" instead, change it to "apk".
- Transfer the Appslib.apk file to the [DOWNLOAD] folder on your ARCHOS 5. Unplug your ARCHOS 5.
- Open the File Manager on the ARCHOS 5, go into the Download folder, and tap twice on the Appslib.apk file that you will find there to start the installation.
- Follow the on-screen instruction to install this newer version of the Appslib applications
- At the end of the installation, select: "Open".
