HP Zeen Tablet Release Date

Some more details of the HP Zeen have been leaked, thanks to notorious guys at Digitimes. According to the source, the Zeen Tablet/Printer combo will ship at the end of the September and will sport pretty low-end specs that includes a 7-inch display with WVGA resolution, 4GB flash storage and a Freescale ARM processor with 512MB RAM.

The printer is made by Wistron and will be called Zeus. The combo will go on sale for a rumored price tag of 400 dollars.

Wistron rolls out flexible 6-inch e-book

Wistron unveiled a new handheld e-book, an 6-inch device which has a flexible e-paper display from the recently acquired Polymer Vision. According to the Chief of products in Wistron, Brian Chong, “the device will feature a similar design as Polymer Vision's Readius with a size of a business card, and users can pull out the flexible display from the device.”Year 2010 is set for its launch. The screen can curl around the keyboard and uses e-paper technology making it quite easier to read.

Wistron to increase notebook shipments to Acer in 2010

Acer has asked the Wistron, one of its notebook manufacture to increase the production of its notebooks as the Acer is planning to ask Wistron to handle the production of its ultra-thin notebooks as well, which are currently being handled by the Inventec.Compal Electronics, another notebook manufacture that manufactures Acer notebooks will still remain Acer's biggest partner.

Acer drops 14-inch and 15-inch ultra-thin notebook orders due to low demand

The orders of newly launched Acer’s 14 and 15-inch CULV based notebooks will not be extended by Acer due to very low demand for these models. Acer is in the market with its 14 and 15-inch Timeline models, as well as a Travelmate series 14-incher based on the same platform.Digitimes claims that, Wistron, is producing around 200,000 units per month, down from an expected 600,000 units. And it ought to effect shipments of the Wistron's notebook badly. The report does not mentions 13-inch Timeline and Travelmate models.It could be that the smaller models might be selling better than the bigger ones.

Wistron Firstbook Netbook runs linux

SONY VAIO P look-alikes are on fire now. The Wistron Firstbook is a Linux based netbook, which looks a lot like the VAIO P. It is a powerful machine with built-in 3G and 11.1-inch widescreen with Bluetooth and WiFi. It is running on the Snapdragon platform, which is also being used by Toshiba's TG01, a windows mobile device. The Snapgradon consumes much less power as compared to the Atom processor, but it is also less capable than the Atom.
