They can be seen being sold at under $200 in most of the online stores. SmartQ7 MID is a 7-inch MID with WVGA resolution that is based on an ARM-11 architecture. It has meager 1GB flash based storage.Other Specs: WiFi, built-in microphone, SDHC expansion slot and can be mounted as mass-storage device. Weighing just 480gm, it is one of the lightest 7-inch device we have ever come across. It is also one of the cheapest MIDs around. It costs just $175! Try beating that.Note: WVGA = 800X480

SmartQ5 Android MID to be shipped at the end of September

MIDs

android mid

cheap mid

cheap umpc

japan

mid smartq

radios

samsung

SmartQ

smartq mid

We have already mentioned about Android-based MID, SmartQ5 in the past. According to the latest news bits, this MID will be available in Japan end of September. It has a Samsung CPU running at 667MHz, with 1GB of RAM and has both WiFi and Bluetooth radios. It has a 4.3-inch screen and sports WVGA (800x480) resolution. We expect it to be under $200 as spotted it to be selling at $150 last month

SmartQ MID now runs Windows CE OS too – costs just $150!

MIDs

arm processor

cheap netbook

consumers

dual booting

free shipping

linux

mid

SmartQ

smartq mid

stock

We mentioned the SmartQ MID a couple of months back. At that time, it was able to run just Ubuntu Linux. Now, it will be able to run Windows CE as OS. This MID comes with an 4.3-inch screen and runs ARM processor. Although it raises the possibility of dual-booting, but I don't think that will be offered to the consumers. It is available at DealExtreme (non-affiliate link) online shop that has few units in stock and is being retailed at $150 (with free shipping too)

SmartQ 7 – a super sleek Internet tablet

MIDs

7

host mode

linux

linux distro

music

SmartQ

SmartQ 7

stereo speakers

usb host

The SmartQ 7 runs an unspecified Linux distro with specs that include WiFi, a USB-host mode, stereo speakers and claims to have 2 days of battery life (considering you run only music on it). It has 7-inch display with just WVGA resolution. I do not know what the folks at SmartQ thinking when equipping this super sleek device with such low resolution. The standard resolution for the MIDs and netbooks is 1024 x 600, which makes everything very enjoyable and usable. With so many Windows Mobile phones now coming with WVGA displays, it makes perfect sense to equip the MIDs with higher resolution than the phones to give them an obvious benefit.
