Compal gets all-in-one PC orders

Compal Electronics, Taiwan has received orders from Acer to make all-in-one PCs. Other than Acer, Asus also gets its all-in-one PCs from Compal. The company is expected to ship around 300,000 all-in-one PCs to Asus in 2010.

Compal has received an order by Asus to produce All-in-One PCs for them. Shipments will commence in the month of February 2010. Earlier, we heard Quanta in talks with Asus, but looks like it is the Compal who is lucky this time.

Wistron to increase notebook shipments to Acer in 2010

Acer has asked the Wistron, one of its notebook manufacture to increase the production of its notebooks as the Acer is planning to ask Wistron to handle the production of its ultra-thin notebooks as well, which are currently being handled by the Inventec.Compal Electronics, another notebook manufacture that manufactures Acer notebooks will still remain Acer's biggest partner.

New Compal netbook to run Google Android OS

We mentioned about Compal making Android netbook back in April and Compal is now showing them off at the Computex 2009. Their Android netbook is running on the Snapdragon processor. Compal reducing R&D support for MIDs – Are they not selling well?

MID (Mobile Internet Devices) is a segment which started along with UMPCs (ultra mobile PCs) and Netbook. Both UMPCs and MIDs simply failed to take off.The Compal Electronics has reduced its R&D resources specifically allocated for MIDs due to the uncertain business outlook for the segment, according to industry sources.However, Compal made a wise move by shifting those employees to the netbook R&D segment.

Compal to make ultra-thin notebooks for DELL

According to Digitimes, Compal has received order from Dell to make ultra-thin notebooks using Intel's CULV CPUs. Compal is already making ultra thin notebooks for the Toshiba and Lenovo.The notebooks are expected to ship in the month of August.

Compal to develop netbook based on Android platform

About a month back, we heard rumors of ASUS to come up with Android based netbooks at the end of this year. Looks like, manufactures are thinking that there is a lot of potential in Android-netbooks. May be that is why Compal Communications, a Taiwanese mobile phone manufacture has plans to develop netbooks based on the Android platform. Right now, it is looking for the vendors that may be interested in Android netbooks.Whenever I hear about such big manufactures talking about making Android based netbooks, only one question arises in my mind, "What is the need of running a mobile phone OS on a nebtook when it can run Windows XP and Windows 7 so nicely". If the rumors of Android netbook are really true, then I am pretty sure that we will soon start hearing rumors of netbooks coming from Nokia and Apple.
