Sinchun M5 UMPC runs Windows 7

Here is another Chinese MID/UMPC that sounds to be a very interesting device. The SinChun UMPC has an Atom Z515 processor, 5-inch touchscreen WVGA display, 160GB HDD, 1GB RAM, and is powered by Windows 7 OS. Everything sounds fine to us, except to the ridiculously small 2-cell 1900mAh battery. Seriously, what were they thinking?

There is no information on its price or if it will ever be released in the US/EU.

Many tablets which we have came across from Shenzhen either have Windows XP or run Windows CE. But as exceptions are always there, the K.R.T. X9 runs Windows 7 with full support for multi-touch. This convertible tablet has 10.2 inch display and measures 226.3mmx166.9mmx24.7mm. It weighs 2kg, which is a bit bulky if you ask us. Inside, it is a pure vanilla netbook: Atom N270 processor running at 1.6GHz clock speed, 1024×600 resolution, 1GB RAM, Intel 950 integrated Graphic chipset, 160GB Hard disk, Wi-Fi (b/g) and support for WCDMA, TD-SCDMA, CDMA2000 3G connectivity.

You can choose between 2800mAh or 3500mAh capacity battery which runs for upto 4 hours. And for this have to pay a hefty amount of $588 USD.

How much does it take to make a netbook?

Many times we have read and heard the reports regarding the less profit margins during vending of a netbook. Folks at Shanzai sat down and have calculated the profits earned during each unit sold. To make a popular S30 type netbook, which has typical N270 Atom processor, 160GB HDD and 1GB RAM, it costs the manufacture $198.91 and guess for how much it retails at? Mere $205 and this gives the company a meager $6 profit.
