The successor to the Asus UL20A is up for pre-order now at Excaliberpc. shares much of the same specs as its predecessor.The unit uses the Intel’s Core i3 processor (1.2GHz) that should yield much better performance than the Atom powered netbooks.

It comes outfitted 12.1-inch, 1366×768 pixel display, just like myriad of Asus’ 12-inch netbooks and packs 2GB RAM, 250GB HDD, 3 USB ports and a 6-cell 4400mAh battery. Available at Excaliberpc for 630 dollars [link]

Asus 1201PN gets a product page

Asus has given the Asus 1201PN 12-inch netbook its own product page at Asus.com. The highlight of this netbook is its Nvidia next-generation graphics and HDMI output. Other than that, it is similar to the other models in the 12-inch netbook category.

The Asus Eee 1201PN netbook comes with 12.1-inch display, 1366×768 resolution, Intel Atom N450 processor, ION 2 graphics, VGA port, HDMI port and runs Windows 7 Home Premium OS. Coming to its memory department, it has 2GB RAM and 250GB HDD. Asus has equipped this unit with a 6-cell battery. Priced at $499, it is a pretty good deal for an ION 2 netbook

Lenovo beefs up the specs of VIA based S12 – Now with 2GB RAM and 320GB hard disk

Lenovo is all set to launch its VIA based S12 netbook in Taiwan. Instead of bundling it with 160GB hard disk and 1GB RAM, Lenovo has decided to beef up its specs a bit. It will now be sold with 320GB HDD and 2GB RAM.

If you buy one without OS, you will have to shell out less money on the VIA based S12 (320GB HDD, 2GB RAM) as compared to Intel Atom based S12 (160GB HDD, 1GB RAM).

Lenovo slashes prices of Ideapad S12 – for both VIA and Atom based models

Lenovo has slashed the prices of Ideapad S12, which is available in two variants:

  • VIA Nano S2250 that runs at 1.3GHz clock speed
  • Intel Atom N270 that runs at 1.6GHz clock speed

The VIA Nano one used to cost $449 whose price has now been reduced to $429. The Atom based S12 got a more significant price drop of $50 (from $499 to $449). There are no differences in both models other than use of different processors. Both come with 160GB HDD, 1GB RAM, 6-cell battery and Windows XP Home edition.

If you still consider a 12-inch notebook-size netbook portable, then you will find this one interesting. Samsung NC20, powered by VIA Nano processor is now available at newegg at $549.

It comes with Windows XP home edition, 1GB RAM and 160 GB HDD. The VIA Nano processor is clocked to run at 1.3GHz. It runs at notebook-ish resolution (1280 x 800) and comes with a 6-cell li-ion battery.
