Quadcore Lenovo LePad Scheduled For Chinese New Year
Digitimes reports that Lenovo quad-core LePad tablet is set to be launched after Chinese New Year in January, and Pegatron Technology is reportedly begun production. Lenovo’s current (dualcore) LePad sales are second only to those of Apple’s iPad in China, shifting 160,000 in Q2, which translates to a market share of 8.4%.
Previously Pegatron was a component partner for German-based Medion, but when Lenovo bought Medion this year, Pegatron entered Lenovo’s supply chain, and for now is collaborating on tablet production, hoping to secure Lenovo notebook orders in the future.
Pegatron is rumoured to have also received orders from Toshiba and Acer for 2012, but the company so far has declined to comment on any client orders. Pegatron Q4 2012 quarterly profit is expected to reach $33 million. Looks like one to watch for the future.
