Tablet Concepts by MSI
Of course, with the CES in full swing this year, all gadget aficionados and the press are looking forward to seeing some unique stuff and of course unique ideas. MSI has a couple of them and they seem to be quite interesting, of course, such prototypes or concepts still need a little bit more of study to become commercially viable in this Tablet infested world.
MSI will be releasing 4 concept designs for tablets in this year’s CES. Two of these designs are mere concepts and we might not even see them in production. They have 2 designs that will eventually hit the market in the future. As of the moment, these designs are mere prototypes. One of the quirky MSI prototypes is called the Kid Pad.
Kid Pad is obviously geared for children. It has a thick plastic frame and the edges are rounded and serve as a handle or can be used to prop the device upright.
Another MSI concept is the Butterfly. This is an all in one desktop computer that includes a 7 inch touchscreen device that you can use to view videos, read books, or access content on a small screen. The Butterfly, being a desktop computer concept is not meant for leaving the house often. The main idea of this device is to connect to the PC so that you can stream content on the home network and extend the functionality of the existing desktop. When you take a look at the Butterfly of MSI, you will notice that there is not one button in the device. It is quite a quirky concept and for some it still needs a little bit more time in the drawing board.
Of course, as expected, two tablets with 10 inch screens are revealed at the CES. One will run on Android and another one will run on Windows 7.
Let is start with the Windows model which is the Window 100W. It runs on Intel Atom Z350 processor. It has a RAM of 2GB and a solid state disk of 32GB. Compared to other comparable devices, there is nothing that stands out but this was definitely functional. The Android version, the Wind 100A still needs a bit of reworking to do. It has a single button and you use the button to activate the back function. It still feels weird as to how to turn it on or off.
Just like the Windows version, it uses a capacitive screen that is very responsive. Another aspect is that there is included GPS, light sensor, G sensor as well as a digital compass. Right now, there is no word regarding the price of these Wind Tablets. Nonetheless, on the most part, it would be more appreciated if we see more updates on the device in the coming weeks. Right now, with regards to overall appeal, MSI still needs to push its devices more in the tablet wars. Nonetheless, we will be expecting more news and updates soon about this device and how they really stand in the competition.
