A firmware update released by Microsoft didn’t go without a glitch. Reports keep flooding the Microsoft support forum about Windows Store and Windows Update issues on Microsoft Surface tablets.
Common reports indicate problems accessing Windows Store, not being able to download apps, frequent freezing of the tablet. Some problems get fixed by rebooting, others persist. Searching for updates and downloading Windows update has also been an issue with some Surface RT users. Windows Update bug and Windows Store access and downloading issues started being reported around January 10th on Microsoft support forum. Microsoft’s first patch came on January 8th. There were also reports of this initial patch not going through well. In some cases it did not complete.
Microsoft claims they are aware of the problem and are working on fixing these issues in timely manner.
“Some Windows RT customers who attempted to apply January’s bulletins had issues installing updates. Specifically, impacted Windows RT devices went into connected standby mode during the download of updates from Windows Update, causing the connection to be disrupted. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and are working to correct the issue; we expect to have a fix in place in the first week of February.”
Most of these problems occur on Microsoft Surface tablets mainly because it represents a vast majority of Windows RT devices.
Microsoft Surface tablets are now available in US, Canada, China, France, Germany, Australia, Hong Kong, and UK and Microsoft just announced that other 13 countries will get it as well.
Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
