Heard of Sony EyePad? It’s just been patented.
It’s just a name and it could mean just about any product, but Sony wants to use this slightly confusing name for PlayStation controller.
This tablet like controller tracks player’s motions of hand or a finger immediately above the tablet surface using stereoscopic 3D cameras. In other words no touching of display will be necessary to play. 3D cameras and motion sensors will track players movements as well as the eyepad location.
Sony EyePad will not make it to upcoming launch of PlayStation 4 on February 20th.
On a related news a leaked picture shows a yet unseen motion controller. The picture shows a touchpad on top of the “DualShock-style” controller. Destructoid seems to think that this is just an early prototype, so we probably won’t see this on new PlayStation 4.
