ZTE teams up with NVidia to make super phones
First smartphone featuring Tegra 4 processor and Icera i500 4G/LTE software modem will be made by ZTE. New ZTE 4G/LTE super phone will offer much faster web browsing, quicker loading times, and better battery life. It is expected to be launched as early as first half of 2013.
ZTE’s executive vice president He Shiyou said,
“This is a clear demonstration of ZTE’s ability to quickly develop, and bring to market, market-leading devices running the industry’s latest technologies. We are proud to continue our pioneering partnership with NVIDIA and are looking forward to offering more Tegra-powered devices, which are defining a new generation of phones offering premium mobile computing experiences,”
NVidia Tegra 4 chipset includes a quad-core ARM A15 processor, 72-core GeForce graphics and Nvidia Icera i500 4G/LTE software modem. This 28nm chipset will be able to power 2,560 x 1600 displays with 1080p video, dual-channel DDR3L RAM and USB 3.0.
The Tegra 4 is in production, but as announced it is expected to be delayed until July. With this delay other devices’ launches will be pushed over. Google Puppy Chromebook featuring Tegra 4 will not be announced until summer. NVidia is working on Project Shield gaming console also powered by Tegra 4.
