Freescale sees a lot of potential in Smartbooks

  • Sharebar

Freescale whose i.MX31 processor is used in a variety of eBook readers is now focusing on the next big thing after netbooks, the Smartbooks. According to folks at Freescale, there is a clear and strong demand for low cost device that is always connected and sports all-day battery life.

Here, they are not talking about mobile phones, but of a device with a bit bigger and higher resolution displays; smaller than the conventional netbooks, but bigger than the smartphones.

ā€œEven in a vibrant space like smart mobile devices, Freescale is growing faster than the market,ā€ said Henri Richard, senior vice president of Sales and Marketing for Freescale. ā€œConsumer electronics are becoming increasingly sophisticated, and this plays to Freescale’s traditional strengths of proven power management expertise, exceptional processing performance and outstanding price-to-performance ratios.ā€
