Lenovo LePad in China

  • Sharebar

Lenovo has stated that they will release the new Lenovo LePad tablet in China and then will be globally released afterward. There is a possibility that the brand will feature the LePad in the upcoming CES in Vegas since prototypes have been appearing across the net. Lenovo has already started a micro-blog that lists some of the features of the device in China.

LePad is interesting in that the display detaches from the body of notebook so it can be used as tablet. It is strikingly close to the Lenovo IdeaPad U1. The capacitive display is very responsive and viewing angles are better than its 11.6 inch predecessor. Lenovo refused Windows 7 and it ditched the Skylight OS. New LePadwill run on Android 2.2 Honeycomb. The colorful UI stretches across three panels. One has app shortcuts and one has store widgets. Third panel has media panes (music, photo, video and e-book) which can be re-sized by dragging a circular toggle in the middle. The prototype unit has a mini-HDMI port, mini-USB and headphone jack dual-facing cameras. Engadget claims that LePad will run on NVIDIA Tegra 2.

Lenovo LePad is said to arrive in China in a couple of months. It’s said to cost about $1,300. Ouch is right!
