Ben Rudolph offers an in depth insight about the Asus EP121. This is a Slate PC that runs on Windows 7. He has been using the Asus EP121 for 2 weeks already prior to its formal unveiling in CES at the end of January. The slate offers incredible high performance features using the Core i5 processor, 4GB of RAM, graphics by Intel HD, and an SSD of 64GB. These settings prove that it is possible to introduce Windows 7 in Slate mode. As per design, the Asus EP 121 has a very unique appeal. The screen is 12.1 inches with a resolution of 1366×768 that is capable of HD playback. The screen is made of a Corning Gorilla Glass which is capacitive. It is quite durable. However, it is very glossy so you have to settle with cleaning the finger marks.

Given its amazing specs, it is quite light with the addition of the SD card reader and the mini HDMI output. It also has a spring contraption for the pen. Rocking at 2.5 lbs, it is pretty good a weight for a Slate. What is most amazing about the engineering and design of the Asus EP 121 is that it has been designed or ergonomic comfort and not something that will make your fingers and arms stiff. The stylus is easy to use and writing short texts using the display keyboard is easier. There is even an included leather folio designed to set up the device on a flat surface for landscape use.

Now, the performance, Running the Microsoft Office and multitasking was easy. The start up and shut down took seconds and the sleep and standby took a flick of an eye to start back again. For regular tasks like typing, doing schedules or using simple programs, the Asus EP121 is robust and amazing. The stylus is very much amazing and has an eraser end to easily remove stray marks. This set up is perfect when in meetings or in conferences since it does not hinder your communication and you are taking notes like on a real paper. As a Slate Asus EP121 is a brilliant device and it also is a fantastic companion for traveling or in business or if you want to relax.
