Asus Eee Note – Unboxed
Asus Eee Note EA800 is quite a unique device. It is like an e-reader but not quite. It is like a tablet but also not quite. It has a 8 inch gray screen so it looks like the Nook or the Kindle however, it has a fantastic digitizer so you can draw, write and just make anything with a stylus. It has a pressure sensitive touch screen and has a camera that can take color pictures even if you cannot see them on the screen. Quite weird, quite quirky and quite exciting! Asus Eee Note has not reached the US shores as yet but some lucky people managed to get one in Taiwan. What they did was they changed the firmware to English. If you want to see the unboxing, there is a video they made for your guys who want to see how it all works.
This Eee Note has a 768×1024 display and has a number of applications embedded. There is a music player, an e-reader (of course) the web browser, a calculator as well as a dictionary. Compared to other e-readers with the E-Ink, this one doesn’t have the feature so the refresh rate is much faster compared to, say, Nook or Kindle.
The downside is that it has a slow, low power processor in the form of Marvell and of course it has a sad and sappy gray screen. Of course Asus Eee Note is not the device for high resource applications and even videos. There are some games though that you can play. It was said by the company that the device will run for about 10 to 13 hours. The device will be priced to $250 when it reaches the US shores. With that price, is it really a good device to have? Well, you be the judge when you see the video. Will this Asus Eee Note ereader work for students? It could due to the writing and drawing features as well as browsing.
