The Raspberry Pi went on sale this week and sold out within two hours. The Raspberry Pi, manufactured by the Raspberry Pi Foundation, was available in two flavours – a basic $25 version and a $35 model with USB and Ethernet ports.
It seems people weren’t put off by the upgrade premium, as that was the version which was bought up so quickly – the base Model A is only now beginning going into production.
The UK-based company behind the project, originally devised as a way to stimulate youngsters into learning about compter hardware, have set up global distribution channels so that buyers can get reasonably-priced devices from local distributors, saving on shipping costs.
