Commodore 64X – Blast From The Past Gets Serious
Commodore USA is stepping out of its novelty guise to stand toe-to-toe with the big boys – its blocky retro-style all-in-one PC range now includes the C64x Extreme, boasting a 2.2GHz i7 Sandy Bridge processor, where other versions of the modern-day relic only featured a 1.8GHz Atom CPU.
Elsewhere on the reconfigured beige carbuncle are 8GB RAM, a 2TB 7200rpm hard drive, a USB-3 port,a 6-in-1 card reader and WiFi-n and Bluetooth connectivity. There’s a hot-plugging DVD writer, though someone out there might like to rig up a good old cassette recorder for authenticity. The C64x Extreme costs is $1499.
