Oracle Cloud services will be expanded with a world’s first “Multi-tenant database”. In San Francisco, Oracle has launched its new cloud services; a 3 tier system along with four new services for customers.
The major news is the production of Oracles private cloud that will sit behind a customer’s current Oracle cloud firewall. The two cloud systems will work as a back up to each other. One will hold the information while the processing of that information will be done on the other cloud. Customers will have the ability to transfer applications between the two clouds.
Oracle’s second announcement, to do with Oracle cloud, is that they will be adding IaaS, Infrastructure as a service, alongside its current PaaS and SaaS cloud solutions to its customers. This will be in direct competition from Salesforce.com and its two tiers. Amazon only offers a single tier cloud service.
The IaaS will be sold to customers currently using the engineered systems of Exalogic, Exadata and Supercluster. All of these will run on Infiniband network.
Thirdly, Oracle announced a “ multi-tenant database ”, a world’s first, it is a pluggable database that contains memory, all processes and storage of multiple data bases. These pluggable databases show much more efficiency than a traditional database set up.
The fourth announcement is the release of new Exadata X-3, which will store all of a customer’s data bases in its own memory structure. This new system will have 24 tera bytes that is DRAM and flash memory. Flash will be increased and the X-3 will be the “world’s fastest computer for business” according to Mr Ellison, Oracle’s CEO.
