Nexus 5 has been developed by LG alongside recently launched G2 handset. Here is a roundup of all rumors for the upcoming Nexus 5.
LG made Nexus 4 was one of the most popular android phones last year. It lacked LTE capability, but with solid hardware and low price, and the latest Android 4.3 software, the handsets is a true winner for many.
Nothing good lasts we all know, and Google is already producing the successor, the all new Nexus 5. It is to be made by LG and the specs and launch date rumors are already feeding and trending.
Nexus 4 was launched in October and released in November last year, so it is likely then, that the new Nexus 5 handset will be launched this fall.
Korean Daum has repeatedly claimed that Nexus 5 has been in development and production alongside new LG G2 handset. Gottabemobile claims that LG G2 served as a blueprint for Nexus 5 phone and much of hardware will be same, however the design is likely to be different.
The screen size is likely to be 5-inches, but 5.2-inch display of G2 isn’t disregarded either. The 720p resolution of Nexus 4 was sufficient for last year model and no one complained for the price, but Nexus 5 is likely to get a sharper 1080p display.
The 8 megapixel camera we saw on Nexus 4 wasn’t anything to badmouth about, but Vic Gundotra from Google promises a Nikon-made improvement. LG G2 launched with 13 megapixel sensor with IS (image stabilization), same as in Galaxy S4 and rumored Galaxy Note 3, so it is likely to see similar camera on Nexus 5 this fall.
Popular quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro chip will be replaced with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 600. We already experienced the fluency in handling Nexus 4 so the SoC was doing its job, but Snapdragon 600 promises better battery life. The LG Nexus 5 will come with 2GB of RAM.
Most rumors point to Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie software to replace the latest Jelly Bean Android 4.3 update. Some references to codename “KRS36B” have already surfaced in Chromium bug list for Nexus 4 and Nexus 7.
Nexus 5 is made by LG, but with restoration of ailing Motorola, Google may choose to relocate the Nexus program to its own warehouses. Motorola has launched a beautiful Moto X phone and is rumored to be readying other Motorola phones this year.
LG made Nexus 5 smartphone will be available in all major carries throughout US and in full support of its 4G LTE capability. The starting price will be $299 unlocked and current Nexus 4 is likely to be discounted before it is discontinued. Nexus 5 will compete with rumored iPhone 5C, the low cost iPhone likely to be launched on September 10th.
