Nexus 10 pounds new iPad 3 heavy
Samsung has shown many times that it can compete with Apple on numerous fronts. This is probably one of the reasons why Apple is pulling out from its dependence on Samsung’s parts.
Google have partnered up with Asus to produce their Nexus 7. It has been a fruitful endeavor as Nexus 7 tops the ranks of 7-inch factor beating up even iPad mini. For 10-inch factor Google decided to hire Samsung. Google announced today a new 10-inch Nexus 10.
Samsung Nexus 10 is lighter, slimmer tablet than the new iPad 3 and with higher pixel density, beating the famous retina to the punch. We looked at the Nexus 10 vs new iPad 3 specification few days ago.
Display of new Nexus 10 carries 300ppi (2560 x 1600 pixel resolution) comparing to new iPad’s 264ppi (2048 x 1536 resolution). Nexus 10 is 8.9 mm thick; new iPad is 9.4mm. Nexus weighs 603 grams, new iPad weighs 652 grams.
Nexus 10 runs newest android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS, while new iPad 3 runs well respected iOS 6.
On connectivity front new iPad still dominates. Nexus 10 does not come with 3G or 4G connectivity and that is unfortunate.
The biggest strength of iOS is of course the ever growing mass of apps. Access to apps certainly is a big part in many folk’s decision making process. Equally as important part of one’s decision making process is a price. 32GB Nexus 10 model sells for $499, while Apple new iPad 3 with same storage and WiFi only model sell for a whole $100 more. Nexus 10 starts at $399 for a 16GB model.
