HP Offers TouchPad/Palm Pre 3 Refunds
HP has promised to refund customers who bought the TouchPad PC or the Palm Pre 3 smartphone before prices were slashed last month, if they activated the device before August 23rd. Three weeks ago the price of the HP TouchPad was slashed to just $99, a saving of $300, while the 32GB was even more heavily discounted to $160 from $599.

The price cuts came days after HP announced plans to discontinue the webOS platform used by both devices, on acount of its failure to meet ‘internal milestones and financial targets’. The Palm Pre 3 has since been reduced to $100.

The HP TouchPad features a 9.7″ screen and is powered by a dual-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor – all in all quite impressive specs, which partly explains why consumers have rushed to snap up the bargain-priced gadget, now sold out in Canada and the UK.
HP have now announced through their website that consumers who paid full price are eligible for a refund of the difference between the purchase price they paid and the current retail price for the three versions of the TouchPad and the Palm Pre 3.
