Gmail and Facebook outages
This morning Gmail and Facebook went down.
Facebook crashed after some dns infrastructure was changed. The outage lasted 15 minutes and after FB was back up users went on with their lives. Some tech savvy users went around the problem by visiting subdomains like o.facebook.com. This was first outage for Facebook since October 2011.
Gmail crashed as I was about to send an email. It was a b*&^% having to rewrite it. This Google’s Gmail outage was the shortest outage in the cloud-based email service history as it lasted only half an hour. At 12:30 PM ET, Google reported “service disruption” and “Google Drive problem” but they were all resolved quickly.
Some other Google services like Google Calendar, Google Chrome and Google Docs, were also impacted by email service crash.
