Gartner’s predictions on mobile computing

  • Sharebar

iPad Site reported on Gartner’s Roberta Cozza and Carolina Milanesi prediction that Apple will keep majority of the market by the end of 2014 until a shift happens in 2015 where decline will ensue. Gartner is making predictions on mobile computing four next for years:

Here are OS sales worldwide (unit = 1000)

Gartner OS sales

Symbian is a dead end OS and as it shows in the table above in 2014 it will account for only 0.1% of mobile market share. Microsoft will climb out of its slum and chop off almost 20% of of the mobile pie. Most amazing are numbers for Android OS which will keep climbing and in year of 2015 will account for nearly half of operating systems used on mobile devices.

Please note: Mobile market is extremely volatile and flexible market and predicting what and how will occur in next 4 years is bluntly put insane, (Gartner just eight months ago predicted Symbian to be the leading OS.) but it does not make us stop from having a bit of fun.
