Viewsonic VOT132 nettop gets a review – ION Goodness

  • Sharebar

The Viewsonic VOT132 is a nettop sporting an ION GPU coupled with Intel Atom 330 Dual Core processor running at 1.6GHz. Packing 2GB RAM and spacious 320GB hard disk, it runs Windows 7 Home Premium and has 6 USB 2.0 ports which should be enough for plugging-in almost all the hardware you have.

Engadget has done a precise, yet informative review of it. Here is the summary of it:

(+) Just an inch thick; won’t occupy much space on your desk

(+) Light

(+) Plays 480p, 720p and 1080p flawlessly!

(+) Mount included

(+) Multi card reader built in

(+) Comes with Windows 7 Home Premium, not Starter

(+) $450.

(+) It has HDMI port too which lets you output display to a monitor and HDTVs.

(-) Super DVD writer cannot be used when nettop is mounted. Kind of defeats the purpose of a mount

(-) Not so good performance in case of flash based videos online. Although youtube (+HD) played back flawlessly, but high-res Hulu was full of hiccups.

(-) DVD writer not bundled. Extra $100
