Windows 7 on ASUS EEE 1000H – REPORT with Video
I bit the bullet and installed Windows 7 on the ASUS EEE 1000H.
- The installation is quite similar to the Windows Vista installation.
- The installation went fine with no hiccups. It took just 20-25 minutes for the complete installation.
- During the installation, it did get stuck at 0% for quite some time while “expanding files” and scared me a bit, but after 5 minutes, the percentage started increasing.
- VGA drivers were automatically picked up
- Aero was working without any problems
- IE 8 beta is included

The vista gave me a modest Vista experience index of 2.0 (click on screenshot to see it’s original size screenshot). Overall, the performance is quite satisfactory. It is not slower than Vista, if not faster.
So, all in all, Windows 7 should work without problems when it is finally released. Is it too early to comment on the perfomance? Yes, it is. But, so far, no problems at all right now.

Microsoft codecs are ruining video playback on windows7. So manually delete them before installing a codec pack – if you don’t, WMP will always use the MS codecs!
hey nice report..i was just wonderin if u installed w7 while ur running vista or is it a fresh installation of w7 OS using the boot..im using xp ryt now and i wanna know if i have to install vista first before running the w7 beta..Also, you mentioned that the drivers were easily detected by w7..are those the default drivers of the eee pc or those upgraded drivers for vista compatibility?..pls respond..thanks…

hi, very good your post abouto use win 7 on an asus eepc-1000ha, I download the version 7100 rc but whe I try to install on my laptop I have many problems about the drivers for the all harware boundled on the excellent laptop, the programs eepc tray, the hybrid engine the bluetooth the wifi drivers, they are completly supported ??? in this opereating system.
