ViewSonic ViewBook Pro Review – CULV notebook with 12 hours runtime!
ViewSonic made a big statement in the world of slim-notebooks when it launched its newest offering: VIewBook Pro. It has a body made of Aluminum-alloy and is just 1.86cm thick!
Folks at mobileandnotebook were able to spend some time with the Viewbook Pro and they seem to be pretty impressed with this new CULV notebook from ViewSonic.
Weighing just 1.6kg, this 13.3-inch notebooks offers a commendable 8 hours of juice. It can be extended to 12 hours too. How? You will learn that later in this post.
It has 1280×800 resolution and is LED backlit. It runs Intel Core 2 Duo CULV 7300 CPU which runs at clock speed of 1.3GHz (+ Intel GS45 chipset). It has 2GB RAM (4GB max), 320GB HDD, Expresscard slot, HDMI output, WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth, LAN, 1.3MP camera, 2 USB 2.0 ports, earphone and microphone jack.
The keyboard has chiclet keys and touchpad has multi-touch support.
Another very interesting point to note is that Viewsonic was able to squeeze in a DVD-drive into the ultra-thin frame of Viewbook Pro. Now, if you do not use the optical drive that much, you can remove that and swap that with the second battery which can give you additional 4 hours of runtime.
The ViewSonic Viewbook Pro also has HDD-head lock feature which will lock the read and write heads if your notebook falls from your desk.
