Ubuntu 9.10 loves SONY VAIO P’s resolution

  • Sharebar

I just installed Ubuntu 9.10 on the VAIO P and unlike 9.04, its 1600×768 resolution is supported out of the box! In 9.04 Ubuntu, you had to quite a few tweaks to get it running in full resolution, but that problem is now gone in Ubuntu 9.10. Full review to follow today

Thanks for the post, but I have a problem in my Vaio P with Uvuntu 9.10. I cannot make work the WWAN built-in Option GlobeTrotter 3G modem. ¿And you?

Unfortunately, my vaio p didn’t come with a built in modem. So I won’t be able to help you in this

Did everything else work out of the box with 9.10? How about wifi, function keys for volume and brightness?

I am really itching to install.

Ok.. a little while later.. I booted 9.10 netbook mix from usb drive, just running the test. Haven’t done a full install yet. Things are working ok, but a little worried about the lag… just scrolling down this page in firefox, there is a lot of lag. I tried out a few of the standard ubuntu games like their tetris, and it is not playable because of the lag. Is this because it is running off the usb and not installed?

  5. Kamal DS says:

Well, it is due to the fact that you need to install GMA 500 drivers

  6. nik says:

it does support brightness buttons but you need to do an update after installing karmic 9.10.

Then you install the poulsbo driver… otherwise rerun the module install
