SONY VAIO P with Windows XP – Complete HOW TO guide
First of all, get all the drivers from this link and store them in a flash drive or some other media which can later be accessed later when you are in XP.

Now, before installing Windows XP, I would strongly recommend to download and install this BIOS, otherwise, you might face some problems with XP
After installing it, connect your DVD drive to your VAIO P and put the XP CD in it. You can also install using USB drive, if you know how to do it. Now, get into bootloader by pressing F2 key immediately after pressing the power button. Enable the option “boot from external media” and make sure the “external media” is above the “internal media” in the list.
Now, you will see the usual XP setup, which I hope you know how to install. Just make sure that you do not over-write Vista’s installation, incase you are planning to dual boot like me.
After the Windows XP installation has completed, you may now install the drivers that you downloaded from the link given earlier in this article.
Recovering Vista Bootloader
Follow these steps to recover Vista’s bootloader:
1) Download and install NET framework 2.0: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=0856EACB-4362-4B0D-8EDD-AAB15C5E04F5&displaylang=en
2) Get EasyBCD: http://neosmart.net/thankyou.php?app=EasyBCD
3) Run EasyBCD. Go to Add/Remove Entries and follow the steps as given the below given screenshots (click on them to view bigger version of the screenshots)
4) Restart. Your Vista bootloader is back!
What won’t work?
The vertical alignment button won’t work as-well-as the second button adjacent to it. There is no way to get them working. Other than that everything works with the usual SONY’s drivers.
