Simmtronics Simmbook priced attractively – under $200

  • Sharebar

Simmtronics, together with Canonical and IBM has rolled-out “Simmbook”, a netbook that is targeted at the developing countries. The Simmbook comes preloaded with IBM Client for Smart Work, Lotus notes (optional) and Lotus Sametime (Optional). It has bog-standard netbook specifications which means that it is powered by the Intel Atom N270 and features a 10-inch display, 160GB hard disk, 3 USB ports and so on. However, unlike most netbooks that run either Windows 7 Starter or Windows XP, it is bundled with Ubuntu Netbook Remix

The Simmtronics Simmbook comes equipped with a small 3-cell 2200mAh battery. Clearly, it would not break any records with a battery of that little capacity. Right now, it is available in only South Africa, India, Thailand and Vietnam. The Simmtronics has plans to bring the Simmbook to the developed countries like US, UK and France in coming months.  Price? As mentioned in the title – under $200
