Puppeee Linux 4.3 RC2 released

  • Sharebar

Jemimah, the creator of Puppeee has just rolled-out version 4.3 RC2 of the 120MB Linux. Features of Puppeee:

-Tiny Size.  Puppeee is less than 120MB, small enough to run in totally RAM, without swap space.
-Fast Performance.  Puppeee has no bloatware.  All the applications are light and fast.  The kernel is customized specifically for your processor with preemptive scheduling for maximum responsiveness.  Your EeePC could be the fastest computer you own.
-Not a cloud distro – Puppeee has an application for just about every task imaginable, and every app is available locally
-No need for a bootloader – Puppeee can run fast and comfortably on a usb stick or card.  You never need to install it on your hard drive.  You also have the option of copying Puppeee files to your hard drive, but continuing to use the usb card to boot, that way you never need to modify your MBR.  You can use the same Puppeee usb drive on multiple EeePCs.  But, if you do want to do a traditional install, you can.
-Extensive application list – Puppeee is a Swiss army knife distro.  Puppeee has hundreds of small apps and utilities.  It uses a compressed filesystem, and clever engineering to fit it all into a minimum of space.
-Small screen friendly – I’ve tailored many of Puppeee’s applications to fit the screen better,  even 7 inch screens.
-SSD friendly – Puppeee can cache writes in RAM, drastically increasing the life expectancy of solid state media
-Powersaving – Puppeee has the same powersaving features as the big distros, underclocking, fan control, suspend, hibernate, plus you can run it in RAM and power down your harddrive for maximum battery life.  Puppeee’s lightweight applications are easy on your CPU, which keeps your computer running cool.
-Unique Technology – Puppy is not based on Ubuntu or any other Linux.  Packages are built from source to minimize their size and dependencies.
-User friendly – Puppeee works out of the box with a minimum of geek skills required to make it go (hopefully).
-Friendly Community – The puppy linux community is equally friendly to both noobs and hardcore geeks

Yes, especially when you want a distro to run directly from the Sd card slot. It even has support for GMA 500 (partial though)

Puppeee is fun and professional. Great apps. Solid work. Load to a USB keydrive, press esc during boot and empower your Eeepc . . .

  4. Greg Zeng says:

Can it read/ save data & run programs (WINE? or Linux) on the computer? EXT4, NTFS-G, MS-NTFS-WIN7, FAT32, …. ?
