Presto Linux OS comes out of beta

  • Sharebar

The Presto OS has finally come out of BETA and is now available for purchase. Price? It is going to set you back $19.95, which is quite steep for an instant-on OS. I expected it to be around $10 or lower. Here are its features:

  • Browse the web securely using Firefoxâ„¢
  • Chat using instant messaging (IM)
  • Make free Skypeâ„¢ to Skypeâ„¢ calls
  • Listen to music and watch videos
  • View and edit documents created in Microsoft Officeâ„¢
  • Download games, music, videos and more through the Presto Application Store

How to install Presto

  1. Download the Presto software
  2. Double-click on the Presto file you downloaded to start the installation wizard.
  3. Follow the wizard instructions. Presto installs in C:\Presto by default.
  4. When installation is complete (this takes several minutes), restart your computer.
  5. When your computer restarts, select Xandros Presto from the Windows boot menu that appears. (If you make no selection, Windows starts by default after 30 seconds.)

The download size is about 462MB.

As cool as this may be, I refuse to pay for a linux distribution. This seems like a ripoff to me.

  2. Peter says:

Yeah. I won’t ever pay for a linux distribution esp when we can get ubuntu for free. The newer ubuntu boots up quite fast

  3. EEE_dude says:

Yep. The ubuntu 9.04 is the way to go and is actually a more functional os
