Pegatron Freescale Netbook – Uses same processor as Palm Pre
Pegatron is a subset of ASUS is now showing off a prototype of their freescale netbook. This netbook, unlike most of the current slew of netbooks, uses ARM Cortex-A8 processor. This is the same processor that is being used in the Palm Pre.
Perhaps that is the reason why Palm Pre is placed next to it. However, it is important to note that Palm Pre runs at 600MHz clock speed whereas the Freescale netbook runs at full 1GHz full speed.
Thanks to Cortex A8 processor, this Pegatron netbook is easily able to run 720p HD videos and has support for 3D gaming. Since this has an ARM processor, which use almost 10 times less energy compared to Atom processors, it is able to give 4.5-8 hours on a two-cell battery.
It also comes with a memory card reader and D-sub video output. Its keyboard has a striking resemblance to ASUS EEE 1000H keyboard and suffers from the same “small right shift key”.
Its release date is not known at the moment.
