Thanks Bazypv,

It works well for my BenQ u121 after I ran auto update and it stuff up the previous working driver. I had to ran: "sudo apt-get purge psb-kernel-source" to get rid of the old driver first though.

Above procedure still fails for MSI Wind U110-

compiles okay, says everything completed normally. Rebooted
Screen is still 800x600@61 with no other choices and slow fps.

Glad you Acer guys got it to work... :-(

Go to the ubuntu hardware wiki, you have to re-link to the kernel in order to get it to work again.

Hi:

I run this poulsbo1 setup on my Acer Aspire One 11.6" without a problem, but after a new Ubuntu 9.10 new kernel update I lost my normal functionality. I found no way to correct the problem. I guess I can run again the poulsbo1 setup, but not works. The system return a incomplete istallation erro code 2 telling me that the /usb/src/psb-kernel-source-4.41.2 is not found.

I am actually running the computer in low screen resolution, which is not exactly low, just 1024 x 768 and not the correct one, but I can not find a way to fix this.

Any help is welcome.

Which method did you use? The one i mentioned or the one your given in the comments?

Note: you can still recover from the flashing screen. It's easy. Just do a google about it

I hope someone can help a real linux new guy. I installed the drivers on my sony vaio p per the angelfire link instructions.
however, same problem, xserver won't start and just flashing screen.

Gotscha, works,

If you have a Vaio-P or if you are experiencing extremely slow performance (less than 14 fps running “/usr/bin/xscreensaver/glblur -fps -window”) add “mem=2000mb” to /etc/default/grub, at the end of GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT

glxgears now reports 1400fps instead of 95.

Can someone tell me how to go about doing this? I don't know how or where to "add 'mem-2000mb" etc.
Thanks in advance. I really appreciate the help.

I have a Dell Mini 10 netbook with a GMA 500. After doing this I get the 'flashing screen'.
Changing grub2-settings does not change the situation (I changed the mem to "mem=940mb" because it is a 1G RAM-machine)

Anybody idea what can be fixed here? I tried solution of top blog-text, after that tried the install.sh from the post above...

Hello Everyone!
I have Ubuntu Netbook for Acer Aspire 751!
I managed to install it properly, it also really smooth for GMA 500 poulsbo!
I know everyone at issues with it, as far as i am concern it does work properly for me, perfect resolution, and all video works better than under Win Xp...So i'm really happy!

Here is what i did, only works for ubuntu 9.10:
Open your terminal and then copy paste each of this!
DO IT ONE BY ONE, then say yes when they ask for install it without verifying, it's fine...It works for me so far...

<code>wget http://poulsbo-karmic.angelfire.com/...oulsbo1.tar.gz</code>

<code>tar -zxvf</code>

Too bad psb-modules contains modules for 2.6.31-10-generic; and Ubuntu 9.10 will want to install 2.6.31-14-generic kernel.

I can't even find 2.6.31-10-generic kernel anymore.

Just 2 things: where you put "sudo apt–get install psb-kernel-source", the '-' is a wrong one (That's why deduran had an error, and many more might have it).

Second. I did everything without problems, but my problem has not been solved. Did I missed something? :S

Hi, this description is to solve the problem with the GMA 500 into ubuntu? When I try to apply it (I have got a AO751H netbook)
I followed all steps, but this message appears me when I try to install the psb-kernel-source:

manzanito@ubuntu:~$ sudo apt–get install psb-kernel-source
[sudo] password for manzanito:
sudo: apt–get: command not found

I added the two repositories that you indicate. Others installations work fine,
Could you please help me?
