New Atom N45x and N47x processors will support DDR3 RAM modules!
Intel’s N45x and N47x processors, not to be confused with N450 debuting in January, 2010, will support the DDR3 RAM modules. The current slew of Atom CPUs have support for only DDR2. However, the the buses won’t run at full throttle. They will work at DDR3 667MHz supporting two SODIMM memory slots. There will be a choice to have one module on the motherboard too, thus making it more affordable than using SODIMMs.
So, while the N45x and N47x will bring support for DDR3 module, the netbook users won’t feel much improvement in performance as RAM modules will work at only 667 MHz
